About Us
Jason Blazar, Executive Director. Jason has a background in natural resource management and landscape design and planning. He received his BS from the University of Michigan in 1996. He left the University before completing his master’s degree to pursue practical experience within his fields of study, namely landscape architecture, forestry, resource management, and urban planning. He is particularly interested in understanding the ecological relationships between human activities and the landscapes within which they occur. Since moving to Oregon in November of 1996, Jason has coordinated the operation of the west Eugene wetland mitigation bank (for the City of Eugene January 1997-September 1999), consulted with private developers on planning and wetland issues, coordinated Friends of Buford Park’s stewardship program (contract employee November 1999-present) at Mt. Pisgah, consulted with local watershed councils to restore key habitats in the Willamette basin, and lead implementation of the Forest Management Plan for Hendricks Park (contract employee December 2004 -present) a City of Eugene park. He received an award from the Oregon Recreation and Parks Association in 2005 for outstanding contribution to the field of natural resources. Jason has worked with the Camas Educational Network as a consultant and volunteer since 1999. Initially hired by the network to develop a prospectus to guide establishment of a wetland mitigation bank, he has contributed 1000s of hours to advance the organization’s mission and realize its vision. Jason accepted the position as Camas’s first executive director in September 2009.
Sandra Koike, Executive Assistant. Sandra studied the biological sciences at Humboldt State University and is currently completing a master’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Oregon. She has three years experience working as an environmental educator in the San Bernardino Mountains and in the Grand Teton National Park. Sandra is also a lifelong student of Japanese language and culture and aspires to convey cultural lessons through the development of learning landscapes.
The 2010 board is a diverse assembly of professionals with significant connections to local businesses, Lane Community College, and the University of Oregon. The Board will retreat in late April to review Camas’s vision and mission, update the strategic plan, and set priorities for the next five years.
